LOROC Architects was instructed to design 37 apartments within a refurbishment and new-build extension located within a conservation area, together with 5 social houses. The existing building is 6m in depth, therefore to maximise the internal space and to create usable units, an external gantry access to the rear was used and designed to reflect the industrial history of the site. The new build extension design is simple so not to detract from the architectural language of the existing building. It is also created using timber frame with a glazed link to provide additional individuality.
